Keller :
A super slick, super smart heist sequel, Ocean’s
Twelve is a fast-paced tale of ego and revenge concocted
as a labyrinth of time jumps, double crosses, twists
and surprises. Director Steven Soderbergh and the filmmakers
have cleverly decided to build on the original characters,
rather than reuse gags or situations that proved popular
the first time around. It’s this originality that
makes every aspect of the film fresh and so enjoyable.
With humour integral to the plot, there is a sizzling
sting attached to each of the central characters.

Review by Mark Dujsik :
The original Ocean's Eleven (and by that, I
mean Steven Soderbergh's 2001 remake) had an undeniably
cool feel to it. I mean, there's no other word to describe
it but cool. The minimalist dialogue crackled, the cast
clearly had fun, and Soderbergh threw in enough visual
trickery to keep the entire affair engaging. Now we
have a sequel, unimaginatively titled Ocean's Twelve,
and it feels too much like a reunion. Soderbergh and
the cast return, but screenwriter Ted Griffin is out.
His presence is much missed, especially considering
George Nolfi's rambling, unfocused script. Ocean's Twelve
meanders for a considerable time, looking for a plot,
and by the time the movie hits its stride, it's a bit
too late. There's genuine momentum to the movie once
it's actually gotten in gear, but then the last act
comes along and brings the movie right back where it
started—only this time fumbling for an ending.
The pacing during the downtime is more tedious than
breezy, and as much fun as the actors are clearly having,
their amusement doesn't transfer past the screen..

Was there any danger audiences would take Ocean's Twelve
too seriously? The sequel to a flyweight remake, Steven
Soderbergh's second go-round arrives with no greater
expectation than that it approximate its predecessor's
chunk of the box office. It's not as if the first movie
left many unanswered questions—just the possibility
of more boyish fun and movie-star camaraderie. Given
the chance to take it easy, Soderbergh and his slightly
expanded cast do just that, tossing off one-liners and
in-jokes as if they're killing time between poker games.
This despite the fact that death hangs imminently over
their heads. But if Andy Garcia's casino boss has threatened
to bury all 11 of the first movie's thieves unless they
return his $160 million, with interest, there's no reason
that should stop them cracking wise, even as their two-week
deadline ticks rapidly away.
