Kumar Santoshi's latest is 'Family- Ties of Blood' we
learn how two very different families come together
on one fateful night.Viren Sahi (Amitabh Bachchan)
is in the main role as a gangster who is as ruthless
as he is cool, calm and collected.Shekhar (Akshay Kumar)
a man who doesn't have much, but his world is his family-
the one thing that matters to him the most.Aryan (Ayreman)
is a man who through the love and strength that his
family gives him enables him to take on one of the most
feared gangsters.
Then we meet Sharda
(Shernaz Patel), a woman who leaves in fear of the fact
that one day her family will have to pay and repent
for all of her husband's sins. That time has come -
and she will do anything in her power to protect her
family.
Bhumika ( Bhumika Chawla)
is a woman, who is battling the constant struggle of
holding her family together. She must find it within
herself to stop her and her husband's family from breaking
down. But everything comes back to the centre story of
Gangster Viren Sahi who has to learn the hard way.
Viren has the money,
power and respect and will stop at nothing if anything
comes or even attempts to hurt his family. Shear is
busy in his own happy go lucky life and will stop at
nothing for his younger brother Aryan who realises as
he grows older that family comes first and nothing else
Viren Sahi's son as played by Sushant Singh is his only
son and is self centred in his own right. His crimes
know no limits and this is so because he knows that
his father will come to his rescue every time. One night
unfortunate events bring these two very different families
together, which then results in a raging war between
the two families. As Viren Sahi accidentally kills Shekhar
and it is then that his younger brother Aryan then vows
to take revenge and abducts the family of Viren Sahi.
What follows is a bloody war between both families with
honour and revenge at the top of the list.As Aryeman
is the producer's own son it is quite obvious that this
movie was the launch pad for him into the Bollywood
light. He is given numerous attempts at having the opportunity
to express his intensity as an actor, however as it
is all tailor made it really isn't very convincing to
you as to what he may be capable of as an actor.
Amitabh is his usual Mr. Cool self and although dressed
as a Dapper throughout one can't help but make the striking
resemblance to that of Tom Cruse in his movie 'Collateral.'
If anything it's those poses with the cigars and the
facial expressions that go with his smooth delivering
of dialogue that allows him to pull off this role.
Akshay Kumar in his role is limiting and he doesn't
really as such get the opportunity to show his worth.Perhaps
though the one person that has truly shone in this movie
is Bhumika Chawla who has managed to give a powerful
performance, the depth of her character is fully established.
Not really family viewing if you want to call it that,
amidst all the hype 'Family- Ties of Blood' lacks the
pace to keep you enthralled throughout. A drag at times,
it seems as though it has been made simply for the sake
of it. A little bit more enthusiasm from the filmmakers
could have probably helped this! Just about average.
