Here
is another typical over the top clichéd Bollywood
movie that is presented by Suneel Darshan. 'Dosti- Friends
Forever' has nothing new to offer, you have seen it
all before.
So as we go into the actual story it is the story of
'Dosti', two men who become the best of friends. Karan
(Bobby Deol) had it all the wealth, the big house the
security. Raj ( Akshay Kumar) was the opposite he had
a lot of love to give , but had nothing to show for
it. No money no home.
Karan was the one who had the family, yet deep inside
he craved loved, still the charmer and ladies man, it
was Raj that had all the love but needed a family to
share it with, yet he was the faithful one woman man.
Yet alongside their differences the two found peace
within their friendship, and it was this deep and strong
bond that could not break them apart. They were there
for each other in different ways. Karan gave Raj a roof
over his head and whilst Karan provided Raj with all
things material it was Raj that in return provided him
that emotional stability and comfort that Karan was
missing in his life.
They would do anything
in the name of friendship, Laugh, cry and love together.
Their faith and trust in each other took everyone by
surprised and many were envious. But it is this very
envy of other's that causes the evil eye over any relationship
and this is what happened as they both came to realise
that really how can this be such a strong friendship
when there are so many differences between them? Yet
they were determined to fight it and prove everybody
wrong.
But with a little hint of 'Kal Ho Na Ho' we get the
old terminal illness thrown in to add to the dramatic
sentimental feel of the movie watch out for Akshay's
emotional acting in the second half, with Juhi Chawla
in a small role as the Doctor.
The bond of friendship
is attempted to be shown throughout the movie, but we
have seen it all before and it is quite dated. Two grown
men, acting the best of friends, singing songs and riding
their bikes together, not really normal behaviour.
Still, Akshay gives
a good performance as much as his character allows him
to, although he does seem to be the senior in charge
with Bobby Deol following behind. However don't expect
the actors and actresses to rise above a level of acting
because the clichéd and 'heard it all before'
script will not allow it.
Leading ladies Lara
Dutta and Kareena Kapoor, are in the background and
are there just to serve a little purpose, the only justice
they do is in the songs 'Dulhaniya' and 'Boogie Woogie',
although Lara looks stunning as usual.
Overall an average
movie, just don't expect your friendship movies like
1960s 'Sangam' and 'Dosti'. Just a typical movie made
for the family audiences, with a few songs thrown in
for good measure, over sentimental, very clichéd
and very predictable.
