Pardesi Ho Gayaa Movie Review
Sawan Kumar too never rests and comes up with a new
flick at regular intervals. So, after a spate of not-so-remarkable
movies, Sawan Kumar presents 'Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya' -a
love story of a Hindu boy from India and a Muslim girl
from Pakistan !! And how the barriers do not stop them
from loving each other !! Introducing Kapil and Saloni
in the lead roles, DPHG has music by Usha Khanna (who
composes for a A grade project after a long long time)
and Sawan Kumar, who along with producing and directing
the movie, also writes the lyrics and the story !! To
give able support to the debutants is the heavy duty
supporting star-cast of Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra and
Ashutosh Rana. The publicity has picked up steam off
late and the recent applause from the select leaders
in the political circuits has also aroused reasonable
interest in the project !!
After a long time, since Sanam Bewafa,
which was incidentally the last major hit by Sawan Kumar,
has some movie of his boasting of such pleasant music.
Two songs can be easily singled out for their pleasant
and easy to eyes choreography - the title song 'Dil
Pardesi Ho Gaya' and 'Mubaarakan' (which also appears
as a shorter sad version) !! The former, a duet by Sonu
Nigam and Alka Yagnik, is a love song about an Indian
guy who has just seen a 'Pakistani chehra' and how he
has fallen flat in love with her !! Whereas the later
is a solo by Sunidhi Chauhan where the girl is happy
to see her hubby back with her and compares it with
her 'Id' !! Both the songs boast of good Indian music
and decent dance steps - the combination of which is
a rarity today !! Whereas Kapil is good, it is Saloni
who catches who attracts you instantaneously with her
angel like looks. In the times when looking sexy and
gorgeous is the need of the day, it is a relief to see
a girl making her debut fully clothed and still looking
drop-dead beautiful !! She looks confident enough and
dances well too !! Now it is to be seen that how good
the lead pair look while emoting on the screen than
just the dance and song routine !!
'Tu Kaun Kahan Se Aayi Hai' is a solo
by Udit Narayan and needless to say, it is one of the
better love songs sung by him in the recent months !!
A number about the guy who is amazed about beauty of
the girl he loves, it conveys the emotions very well
and Sawan Kumar deserves a special mention for writing
beautiful lyrics for most of the numbers in DPHG !!
'Main Chamcham Nachoongi' by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan
is one of the best numbers in the entire album and it
is nice to see that one after another there are a number
of songs that are entertaining !! Saloni has got a pretty,
innocent and a charming face and she takes it's full
advantage in this track !! A cute number, it should
gain popularity if the movie is as good as the songs
!! Another track that catches your attention on first
listening itself is 'Karachi Nahi Jaawangi' by Sunidhi
Chauhan !! Again a number with Indian feel woven around
it, it is about a girl who is willing to go to any part
of Pakistan, be it Islamabad or Multan, but not Karachi
!! Now why, this has to be seen in the movie !!
'Kudrat Ne' is a situational track about
two lovers who are unable to comprehend as to why the
borders have to come in way of their uniting with each
other. A slow track by Sunidhi Chauhan and Udit Narayan,
it is not in the lines of other love songs by being
entertaining but mainly carries a message !! 'Aaj Humne
Aapke Liye' by Sudesh Bhonsle and Priya Bhattacharya
is perhaps the only speed breaker in the entire feel
good album. A song about a conversation between a father
and his daughter on a breakfast table, it is strictly
situational and some very average composition too doesn't
help it's cause !! An avoidable track !! To compensate
for this track comes the patriotic number 'O Shaheedon'
by Sonu Nigam which is good in all departments - vocals,
lyrics and music. A number about respecting the soldiers
from both the sides of the border, it again carries
a message and does well in that !!
In the times when actioners are being
made that talk of enmity between the two neighbouring
countries, it is a commendable attempt by the movie
makers to make a movie on peace and love. A thoroughly
enjoyable fare, there is no song (except for 'Aaj Humne...'
which can be excused due to it's being situational)
that can be termed to be a drag or boring. A good 'desi'
album that should be liked in 'both the sides of the
border' !! |
