Having
previously written comedies for David Dhawan, Bazmee
does an excellent job. Married men in the audience get
ready to cringe your seats! This is all you imagined
but were possibly too scared to do! The similarities
with ‘Masti’ are perhaps are that three
cheating husbands are looking for some fun outside their
marriage, yet with ‘No Entry’ the double
entendres are in check and therefore the movie will
appeal to a wider audience.
Three men- Kishan (Anil Kapoor) married to Kaajal (Lara
Dutta) –the faithful husband with the suspicious
wife. Then we have Prem (Salman Khan) the ‘married
bachelor’ who is also possibly the biggest flirt
and has the naïve and most trusting wife Pooja
(Esha Deol). Somewhere lost in between and confused
is Sunny (Fardeen Khan) who is in a controlling relationship
with Sanjana (Celina Jaitley).
So along comes Prem who decides to spice up his boring
and simple friends lives a bit with the aid of nightclub
dancer Bobby (Bipasha Basu). The sexy temptress who
will remind every man of his manliness married or not.
She is to these men the ‘Forbidden fruit’
the more they relent the more they are drawn towards
her. When ‘hired’ by Prem to seduce his
friend Kishan a whole heap of comical situations and
mishaps arise. In this extra-marital adventure Sunny
gets dragged down too! With some good moments of humour
present such as Fardeen at the ‘suicide point’
or Anil Kapoor supposedly cheating on the maid in Lara’s
imagination give intensity to this comical farce.
Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan shine in this movie, comical
paired together they are great on screen. Although in
the second half it is apparent that Salman is missing
for quite some time but his adulterous ways in the first
half more than make up for it. Anil Kapoor’s timing
with the comedy involved is spot on, you can see that
it comes to him naturally and he is not even trying
to hard to impress! Just his facial expressions are
more than enough to evoke laughter!
Fardeen Khan’s role is limited he doesn’t
seem to go beyond what he needs to do and although caught
up in some funny moments her really could have done
better.
Bipasha’s role as Bobby is perfect for her, playing
the ‘home wrecker’ exceptionally well, with
the rest of the women in the film seen as whining, obsessive
and stupid, Bipasha holds her own with her character,
almost as if that character was made just for her! Lara
Dutta really shows us what she is capable of as far
as her acting skills are concerned. Brilliant as the
overly suspecting wife, she manages her ditzy role quite
well. Out of the three wives, Lara is seems to be the
one leading the way.
Esha’s role seems like it could have had more
to it, but nonetheless she is ok as well as Celina Jaitley
who if given the chance could have elaborated on her
role.
Surprise pop up from Boman Irani who adds his own humour
as the annoying politician adds that spice that is needed
in this commercial entertainer.
With the men chasing the women, and with the women chasing
their skirt- chasing husbands, it provides all the ingredients
of a successful comedy, with its dose of witty one liners,
confusion and chaos and of course plenty of titillation
as provided by Bipasha and Celina’s group of girlfriends.
