Although the main characters consist of a man and two women, it is not a love triangle. Instead, Veer-Zaara is a very earthy Indo-Pak story of courage and integrity. It's the romantic saga of an Indian man, Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) and a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta), who are trapped in situations beyond their control. Yet the love they possess for each other is so great that it defies the boundaries, which could destroy it. The lovers ignore the strife, which surrounds them. For them, love is the only religion. Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherji) is the Pakistani lawyer who tries to break the barriers separating the two.

Even though it's a cross-border epic, it is devoid of political overtones. Simply put, it is a very beautiful and emotionally charged story, the intensity of which will tug at your heartstrings. With music from the treasure trove of the legendary late Madan Mohan, which was creatively remastered by his son Sanjeev Kohli, this film, which promises to make musical history, will take you back in time. With lyrics like the following from the song Tere Liye, you get a sense of the romantic fervour expressed between Veer and Zaara. 'Tere liye hum hain jiye honton ko siye. Tere liye hum hain jiye har aansoon piye. Dil mein magar jalte rahe chaahat ke diye tere liye, tere liye'. (I live for you with my lips sealed. I live for you swallowing all my tears. But in my heart the lamp of desire still glows for you, for you).

The film's brilliant producer/director Yash Chopra also promises that Shah Rukh Khan has given his career's best performance in Veer-Zaara. The film will be in theatres everywhere on November 12th - Diwali. Don't miss it!
