'Kyon Ki' termed as a 'Comic Tragedy' sees Salman Khan
in the role of a mentally unstable killer. Kareena Kapoor
is starring opposite Salman for the first time.Directed
by Priyadarshan, this is actually a re-make of a Malayalam
movie 'Thalavattam' In 'Thalavattan' Malayalam's mega
star Mohanlal was the star, in this version it is Salman
Khan in the male lead.Declared as mentally unstable,
Salman as the male lead is in a mental institute as
he is accused as murdering his wife.
Always playing pranks, Anand (Salman Khan) loves Maya
(Rimii Sen) , planning to marry and eventually start
a family the two are happy. However one day when one
of his pranks goes wrong it results in Maya's accidental
death which then causes Anand to lose his mind through
shock.It is through a series of flashbacks that we learn
what actually happens, and the effect it has had on
Anand.Still in shock, he is sent to a mental institute
and becomes just a patient with just a number.
In the Institute he meets a young and caring nurse-Dr
Tanvi ( As played by Kareena Kapoor) forming a close
bond with him she becomes fascinated by his past and
wishes to know more. Dr Tanvi plays the daughter of
Dr Khurana (Om puri) who is head of the institute, and
is strict and old fashioned in his ways, especially
in the manner in which his hospital and his patients
are treated.
Dr. Sunil is played by Jackie Sharoff who opposes Dr
Khurana's methods of aggression towards his patients
and feels that those in care should be treated with
love and compassion.
Yet when Dr Tanvi and Ananad's feelings become strong
towards one another, Anand is cured, but the conflicts
arise when their affair becomes public. Yet with Anands
previous track record, his mental state of mind is used
against him. Dr Khurana intervenes which results in
the climax of the movie.Due for release this Eid- Diwali,
this might just be one tear jerker, so get them tissue
boxes ready!
