Urmila
Matondkar
was born on 4th February and started her carrier as a child
artist, appears in number of films including her best Masoom
in 1982.With insignificant roles in films like Narsimha and
Chamatkaar, Urmila realised that even co-star Shah Rukh Khan
couldn’t salvage her literally non-existent career. That was
when she decided that she had some serious work to do. Rangeela
managed to give Urmila’s career a much-needed boost.And the
credit for her being recognised as an actress goes to the
completely besotted director Ram Gopal Verma.
Her role as an extra who goes on to become an actress, perfectly
brought out Urmila’s bubbly side, even though the acting called
for some refinement. In Mere Sapno Ki Rani with Madhoo, and
in Judaai with Sridevi, Urmila challengingly took up the role
of the other woman.
