 Jessica
Alba (born April 28, 1981, in Pomona, California, USA)
is a US-born actress. Of Mexican and French
descent and raised in a nomadic military family, Jessica
grew up a sports fanatic and terrorized her teachers
and grandparents alike with her rebellious behavior.
Her father's navy career took the Albas to Biloxi, Mississippi,
and Del Rio, Texas, before they settled back in California.
Jessica Alba has been
acting on screen for more than half her life, dating
back to an almost cameo role as Gail in the 1994 Family
Adventure Comedy feature Camp Nowhere and extending
to more recent gigs in her highly popular, but nevertheless
cancelled, Fox TV Sci-fi series Dark Angel (2000-2002).
Jessica got her big
break in Camp Nowhere because her hair matched the actress'
who's role she got when the original actress had to
pull out at the last moment.
Jessica Marie Alba relocated with her family (her Spanish/Mexican-American
father was in the Air Force) several times before finally
settling down in Southern California. The Alba family
moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, then back to California,
followed by Del Rio, Texas, and finally back to the
West Coast.
Jessica is a PADI-certified scuba diver.
On the set of filming Flipper (1996) she recieved numerous
threats for her kidnapping on the phone by an unknown
man.
She was chosen to play Max on Fox's Dark Angel. James
Cameron (Producer), and Charles H. Eglee (Producer),
say they knew she was the perfect one for the job as
soon as they met her. They said she was outgoing, and
had a great personality. Rumor has it that she was also
chosen because of the fact that she looks like no identifiable
ethnicity, which is supposed to be the same as Max.
